St.Lucia and Martinique are in the lush Windward Islands in the Caribbean
The Windward Islands-
These stretch 300 miles from Dominique to Grenada where there is some of the best blue water sailing in the world. The sailing trips will take 1 to 4 hours.
St.Lucia
St.Lucia is reputed to be one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean with it's lush rain forest and spectacular beaches.
The native language is Patua (patois) which is a mixture of french, spanish and english. It evolved from the occupancy of the British and the French who fought over the island for over 200 years.
EC dollars are the local currency but US dollars are widely accepted with a fixed exchange rate of approximately $2.65EC to $1US dollar.
Virgin Atlantic and British Airways fly direct from London to Hewanorra airport. A departure tax is charged on leaving St.Lucia.

Martinique
Martinique is the largest island in the Windward Islands. It is great for shopping, being part of France and also boasts amazing botanical gardens.
Napoleon's Empress Josephine was born here. Her birth place, now a museum, is a short walk from where we anchor.
Mount Pelee which dominates the northern end of Martinique killed all the inhabitants of St.Pierre except a prisoner who was saved in his protected cell. This cell is now a tourist attraction.
